Best Reversible Strollers: these are lightweight strollers that can keep the baby facing the parent or facing ahead.
Reversible baby strollers allow you to choose whether the baby faces out towards the world (similar to most other stroller) and it also gives you the option to make the baby face you.
Great for Small Babies
This can be great when you have smaller babies as they would usually prefer to see their mom or dads face as they travel.
They also allow you to chat easily to your little one (keeps the baby comfortable and also which helps to improve speech and language development).
You can see your little one and see if s/he has fallen asleep, or if the sun is in his/her eyes, etc.
Reversible strollers are also referred to as modular or convertible strollers.
Modular Stroller
Lot of companies now have introduced strollers, which they refer to as modular strollers. But going by the features, a modular stroller seems to be another name for the reversible stroller.
A modular stroller is basically a modular seat that can be adjusted into different ‘modes’ to suit a growing child. The seat can be in a lie-flat mode which is recommended for newborns/infants, to a parent facing seat as baby grows, and then to a big seat that faces the world (for a toddler).
Reversible strollers are also known as Parent-facing or Rear facing or Modular stroller.
While parents commonly use the terms “reversible” or “rear facing” stroller, industry term for these kind of strollers is “modular.”
A modular stroller is a stroller that features a removable seat; the seat can face forward or can be flipped around to face the rear (face the parent).
Features of Modular Strollers
Here are some some nuances of modular strollers that you should be aware of:
- Reversible strollers require a 2-hand fold and don’t fold as compactly as fixed-seat strollers.
- Certain strollers require you to remove the seat before you can fold the stroller
- These strollers are a little heavier compared to the normal strollers
- These are also expensive than a fixed-seat stroller
There are not many modular jogging strollers available; most of them are “all-terrain” strollers (with large air-filled tires).
From Single to Double Stroller
Modular strollers come in two types: one that can become a double stroller and one that cannot.
Reversing strollers that convert to a double are called “convertible strollers”. This is an amazing feature because it saves you money, and no need to buy another stroller once the second baby arrives.
Lots of families buy the single stroller and add a second rumble seat once the second baby arrives. These single-to-double strollers are also the right solution for twins.
So, in case you intend to buy a modular stroller and are planning to have another baby later on, do consider buying a convertible stroller.
