Bugaboo Ant: Review
Why is it called the Ant?
Strollers are often large, heavy and cumbersome, not exactly the kind parents would like when transporting their little one.
The Bugaboo Ant changes all that and make travelling easier for parents. It is small like an ant, but built strong like an ant. While the Bugaboo Ant is a travel stroller, like all other Bugaboo products, it has been designed keeping convenience in mind.
- What we like: Compact and maneuverability. Weighs under 16 pounds and approved for many airline overhead bins. Seat has three recline positions. Adjustable handlebar. Reversible function makes it easy to face baby in or out.
- What we dislike: The stroller seat does not complete recline, requires use of both hands to fold/unfold the stroller
Versatility / Customization
Reversing seat; make it parent-facing for more baby face time. Seat reclines to three different positions.
You can even attach a Bugaboo baby cocoon for newborns on the frame (that way you won’t need any other pram besides the Ant).
You can also attach the Bugaboo stroller board to this stroller to accommodate another child on this stroller.
Pull or push it like a trolley suitcase.
Wheels & Suspension
All-wheel suspension provides a smooth ride. The Ant is lightweight and very easy to maneuver.
Ease of Folding
It’s compact; easy to store in the overhead luggage on a flight.
Storage space
Accessible storage basket underneath holds up to 17.6 pounds. You can also use the Bugaboo Ant Organizer to add more pace to your stroller.
Sun Protection
Extendable canopy with sun protection factor of UPF 50+; protects from sun and keeps the seat cool.
Technical Specs
- Dimensions: 38.2 x 16.1 x 40.2 inches unfolded; 9.1 x 15 x 21.7 inches folded
- Max Weight limit: From Birth using Bugaboo Bee Baby Cocoon (sold separately) and up to 50 pounds (30kg)
- Weight of the stroller: 15.87 pounds (7.2kg)
- Wheels: 6″ rear wheels, 5″ front wheels
Competitor check: The Babyzen Yoyo+ is a competitor to Bugaboo Ant. Both seem to be great, not much of a difference. The canopy seems to be bigger on the Ant, and fold and unfold on both seem to require the same efforts.
