Stroller size comparison, restrictions

There are various types of strollers, but when it comes to stroller sizes, there is no standards as such.

For a long time, the standard single stroller was the most common type of stroller, considered the workhorse of the stroller universe. These come with all the standard features and used to be the go-to buggy for all purposes – running errands, walking around the neighborhood, and even for going on day trips.

However, times have changed. Not only are there various types of strollers, they are also shrinking in sizes, without compromising much on the comfort and usability.

Irrespective of the stroller size, all strollers come with the necessary safety features.

Lot of the smaller sized strollers nowadays can even get into the overhead space on the airplane. It needs a bit of assembling and dis-assembling.

Stroller size for airplanes
All airlines have rules pertaining to bringing a stroller on a plane. Most of them are similar, some have slight variations in terms of whether the stroller can be accommodated in the overhead space or ha to be checked with the baggage.

Buying a Stroller
There are lot of options when it comes to single strollers, so you can choose something that suits your lifestyle. If you travel, walk, and hike a lot, you will need a different single stroller, whereas a less active parent may need a different/cost effective stroller.

Factors to consider:

  • Adjustable 5-point harness (shoulder straps, waist straps, crotch strap) with an adjustable crotch strap
  • Brakes: Single action brake that locks both of the back wheels is safer than individual foot brakes
  • Reclining options: Stroller seats with backs that recline fully are appropriate for infants under 3 months who can’t hold their heads up yet.
  • Check for other features like how easy it is to use and fold up, what kinds of extra features are provided.
  • Buy a single stroller that can be used as your baby grows into a toddler.
